Socorro Dominguez, a resident of Lordsburg, entered eternal rest Tuesday June 3, 2014 at the age of 94.

Visitation will be Saturday morning, June 7, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 8 o'clock where a prayer vigil will begin at 9 led by Alice Ramirez. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 with Fr. John Weber, Pastor officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.

She was born November 28, 1919 in Rancho El Refugio, Chihuahua, Mexico to Mariano and Nemesia Contreras Dominguez. The oldest of 13 children, she spent her early life helping to take care of her family. In 1950 she moved to El Paso, Texas where she worked as a housekeeper until her retirement. Her faith was very important to her and she was always an active member of her Catholic community in El Paso. She was a very strong, compassionate and giving person who was always the first to lend a hand when help was needed. Socorro came to reside at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home in Lordsburg in May 2010 and resided there until her passing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Socorro is survived by her brothers, Eleuterio (Maria Esther) Dominguez of Lordsburg, Armando (Juanita) Dominguez of Animas, Alfonso Dominguez of Las Cruces, and Arturo Dominguez of Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico; one sister, Ana Maria Andujo of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Isabel Dominguez, Rosario Dominguez, Maria Elena Dominguez, Genoveva Corona, Maria Refugio Hermosillo, Francisca Gonzalez, and Petra Orozco.

Pallbearers will be Rene Dominguez, Daniel Dominguez, Chris Ramos, Jorge Campos, victor Diaz and Miguel Sanchez.
