Arthur L. Barela 66, a Santa Clara resident passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.

Visitation will be held at 3 o'clock in the afternoon Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 o'clock by Deacon Bill Holguin. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o'clock in the morning Friday, August 8, 2014 at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery.

Arthur was born June 14, 1948 in Santa Rita to Ysabel and Tommie (Lopez) Barela. He was retired from the Cobre Schools. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and a friend and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Barela, his son Arthur Scott Barela, daughter Samantha Marie Barela, mother Tommie Barela, Brother Robert Barela (Joyce), grandkids Aisan, Rhylynn, Sylis, Jaslyne and Kyran, sister-in-law Vivian Valerio, brothers-in-law Michael Nunez (Mary) and Simon P. Nunez (Nancy), nephews and nieces; Devonne Pugh, Greg and Randy Sanchez, Debbie Barragan, Victoria , Sandra, Shawn, Gavin Jesary and Davin Barela, Anthony and Andrew Nunez, Patrick Gutierrez, Jennifer Ramirez, Lawrence Nunez and Kristen Brown.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert (Robbie) and Davin Barela, Greg Sanchez, Anthony and Andrew Nunez and Patrick Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Sanchez, Frank Jimenez, David Medrano, Ambrosio Ambriz, Pat Torres, Angel Arzola and Michael Nunez.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ysabel Barela; brother, Freddy Barela and sister, Judy Sanchez.

Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
