Don Webb of Sahuarita, Ariz., entered eternal rest July 29, 2014,
after a battle with a rare strain of lymphoma. He passed away peacefully
with his loving wife, Charlene, and his family by his side. He was born in
Decorah, Iowa, to Robert and Bernice Webb on Dec. 16, 1933.

He married the love of his life, Charlene Little, in 1957 and they raised two sons, Gary
and Ken Webb. Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and
Bernice. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Webb; his brother, Dan Webb,
and wife, Shirley; sons, Gary Webb and wife, Julie, and Ken Webb and
partner, Carol Wilkins; grandson, Bonner Webb, and wife, Valerie; and
great-grandsons, Roan and Tuff Webb.

Mr. Webb had an extraordinary life. He graduated from high school at Clear Lake, Iowa. He attended Mason City Junior College and the University of Idaho Forestry School. After
graduating, he started working for the Forest Service in Northern Idaho in
1954 and 1955 doing blister rust control. In 1956, he was accepted for
smokejumper training in McCall, Idaho. He worked as a smokejumper from 1956
through 1960. He completed nine fire seasons and made 104 parachute jumps.
Between 1960 and 1967, he developed the first fire dispatch office for the
Coronado National Forest and also served as the first ski ranger at the
Mount Lemmon Ski Area in Arizona. From 1967 to 1973, he served as the
Regional Fire Coordinator in Albuquerque. From there he was transferred to
the Gila National Forest in Silver City. He was the Fire Management Officer
from 1973 to 1984. Also during this time he became the Incident Commander
for the region¹s Class One Fire Team. This is an elite team that fights
large project fires in California, Idaho, Montana, Arizona and New Mexico.

After retiring in 1984, he and his wife, Charlene, began spending the winter
months in Bahia de Kino, Mexico. He loved spending time with his family and
friends. He was a very kind and gentle person, always willing to lend a
helping hand. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Bahia de Kino,
Mexico, in late October. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that a
donation be made to the American Cancer Society Mosaic. Mr. Webb¹s memorial
