Elizabeth (Betty) Haley Reid, 95, passed away on August 17, 2014 in Idalou, Texas. She was born at home near Smithfield, Texas on November 18, 1918.

She married the love of her life, Bush Warren Reid, on July 10, 1947 in Post, Texas. Together they began a life of ranching and raising their family in several states, starting in Clairemont, Texas, moving to Montana, Colorado, Nevada, and finally moving to New Mexico in 1969. Betty moved to Idalou, Texas in April, 2014. Betty owned and operated a real-estate office, A Bar A Realty, in Deming and in 1972 moved to Las Cruces , NM, and started Reid's Realtors. Many remember the homemade salad dressing she created from scratch, and the great meals served to many friends, family and cowboys over the years. Also the great hospitality shown to their many friends and family that visited them was never forgotten.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bush W. Reid in 2005, her parents, baby sister Jean Haley, and a brother, Hubert Edward Haley, granddaughter Laurie Hansen, twin grandsons, Ross and Ryan Reid, niece Karen Haley Rex and nephew Daryl Reid.

She is survived by a son, Kyle and wife Linda of Petersburg, Texas, daughter Della Dunlap and husband Art, of Encino, NM, sister-in-law Phyllis Haley of Hurst, TX. Also surviving are grandchildren, Joe Kyle Reid and wife Leslie of Shallowater, TX, children Natalie and Quincy, Allison Reid of Lubbock, Texas, children Kyle Ray and Eva, Brett Dunlap and wife Amber, of Bowie, TX, and son Cord, and Haley Wilson and husband Terral of Dumas TX, children Jake
and Kye. Betty is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Patsy Moyers and the staff at the Beehive in Deming, NM, for the excellent care given to our mother. Special thanks go to hospice nurses Kim Lara and Tracie Martin, and Pastor David Drake of Accolade Hospice in Lubbock, TX. The family is very grateful to Michelle Craig and her staff at Library of Legacies in Idalou for the care, peace and comfort given to our mother during her stay there.
