Allard "Bart" C. Bartlett, 86, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born January 8, 1928 in San Marcial, NM to Bryan and Queenie (Dillon) Bartlett. Allard served honorably in the United States Navy. He worked and retired as the Mill Superintendent for Kennecott Copper Mines after 34 years of service. He was a devoted husband, daddy, grandfather and friend. He and Nadine enjoyed the outdoors. Family picnics were always a part of life with Grandpa cooking hamburgers, hotdogs, and his famous cowboy coffee. He was an avid collector of Mimbres Indian pottery and artifacts which he took great care in preserving the history for future generations. He donated his full collection to the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum which is on display. Allard was one of the original coaches for the Hurley Little League "Eagles" which he took great pride. He also donated his time to the Hurley Boy Scout Troop 102, was a member of the Hurley Kiwanis Club and a past Hurley town council member. He was also a founding member and board of director's member of Am Bank. Allard was a well respected community member who led by example.

He is survived by two sons, Bryan Bartlett and his wife Barbara of Garfield, NM; Bernard Bartlett and his wife Becky of Hurley; one daughter, Melinda Rivera and husband Emilio of Silver City; eleven grandchildren, Nika, Charles, Daniel, Bryant, Kristen, Jennifer, Mandy, Michael, Lisa, Joseph and Amy; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Johnnie Jo Bartlett.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nadine Bartlett (November 2013); his parents, and a brother, Gilbert Bartlett.

Allard, "Bart", Daddy, and Grandpa was the most hardworking, honest, and caring man we will ever know. Family and friends will miss his genuine love and friendship.

Allard asked that his life be celebrated by gathering friends and loved ones together for a picnic to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. A Memorial Lunch honoring Allard will be held at the Hurley Community Center 312 Carrasco Ave on Saturday, October 4 from 11:00am to 2pm.  Please bring your memories and stories to share with family and friends.
