Edward L Arenibas, 90, a Former Resident of Deming

Edward L Arenibas was called home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2014 and is now reunited with his beloved wife Patsy. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Visitation will begin Monday afternoon at 4 at Baca's Funeral Chapel with the prayer vigil to follow at 7 o'clock led by Suzanne Lundy. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Tuesday morning at 11 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Fr. Manuel Ibarra officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with veteran honors accorded.

Edward was born on June 24, 1924 in Deming, New Mexico to Matilde and Ramona Arenibas.

He is preceded in death by his wife Patsy; sons, Johnny and Edward; father, Matilde; mother, Ramona; brother, Tomas and sisters, Consuelo, Juana, Laura and Valeria.

He is survived by his children, Joe Arenibas and wife Linda of Tucson, Arizona, Linda Madrid of El Paso, Texas, Ernestina Martinez and husband John of Springer, New Mexico, Freddie Arenibas and wife Daniela of Lafayette, Louisiana, Irene Tarango and husband Saul of Deming and Mary Lou Stene and husband Carlos of El Paso, Texas; brother, Matilde Arenibas of Las Cruces and sisters, Francis Delgado of Albuquerque and Mercedes Kolb of Deming; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward was a veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1970 from Brown Construction after 15 years of service. He was a former commander of the DAV, member of the VFW, Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus, member of the Saint Ann's Men's Club and Cursillistas.

He was an avid hunter and gardener. He greatly enjoyed his yearly hunting trips with his sons, nephews and grandsons. He was an active member of the community and always volunteered his time to help out others in any way that he could.

Edward spent the last seven years of his life in El Paso, Texas, enjoying time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Serving as pallbearers are Albert Gonzales, Johnny Martinez, Carlos Stene, Saul Tarango, Joey Martinez and John Edward Martinez.
