On September 19, 2014, Tim passed away at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by his family and a caring medical staff. Tim was 61 years old. Tim was born on November 16, 1951, in Binghamton, NY, to Joan Critchlow and Edwin deForges Bennett.

From an early age Tim was fearless and out-going. He rode his bike everywhere, including places forbidden by his parents. People gravitated to him as evidenced by the frequent neighborhood softball games in front of his house. After high school Tim joined the Marines, his proudest lifetime achievement. He was "Semper Fi" to the core. After his retirement he moved to Silver City, NM, where he enjoyed fishing in Lake Roberts. Every week he cooked those same fish for his mother who also lived in the town. Tim knew every restaurant in Silver City and greeted his waitresses by name, especially the ladies at The Red Barn. In all of his life Tim never met a stranger, and there are times when he would literally take off the down jacket he was wearing and give it away when he met someone who had no coat. The world has lost one of the kindest and most generous men who lived. Matthew 25:34-36 "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' Tim will surely be among those who inherit the kingdom.

Tim was predeceased by his father Edwin in 2011. He is survived by his mother Joan Critchlow of Frisco, TX; one brother, Samuel Robinson Bennett (Deborah Costy-Bennett) of Salt Lake City, UT; two sisters, Katharine Oehmann (Carl) of Prosper, TX; Sarah E. Bennett of Tucson, AZ; nieces, Wendy Heimonen (Bill) of Bedford, TX; Laurel Mercer (Eric) of Colorado Springs, CO; Seres Bennett Cross (Peter) of Tucson, AZ; Mara Syroid Bennett (Noah) of Salt Lake City, UT; great niece, Amy Grace Mercer; great nephews, Cash and Wilson Mercer; Liam Heimonen, Everett Syroid and Grayson Cross.
