Guadalupe Garcia, 95, a longtime resident of Deming entered eternal rest on Friday October 3, 2014 at her home.

A family memorial service is planned for a future date with cremation entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory.

'Lupe' as she was affectionately known was born December 12, 1918 in Duncan, AZ to Luis and Elogia Herrera. She was a devoted homemaker, a hard working woman with strong beliefs and an affinity for joy and love in her life. She worked many jobs for many years at different locations, inclusive of a Laundromat, chile plant, pecan orchard and several other places to support her children and to be able to assist with her grandchildren. She was a staunch supporter of higher education for her grandchildren and would help them out when she thought it was necessary (most of the time). She would help them with food, books, toiletries and spending money whenever she could afford it. It was her joy to make their favorite foods which were homemade tortillas and empanadas de manzana (apple) or calabaza (pumpkin). Lupe saw many wonderful things in the 95 years of her life. She lived through a Great Depression, a man on the moon, color television, and the age of new electronics. She loved video chatting with her grandchildren on the smart phone. She is dearly loved and will be dearly missed as well.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Lyria Garcia, Viola Garcia, Elvia and husband, Charlie Vigil of Deming; 2 sons, Daniel and wife, Stella Garcia, of Tucson, AZ and Jaime and wife Jean Garcia of Deming; five grandsons, J. Conrad Garcia (Deana), Robert Joe Vigil (Myrna), Joshua Garcia (Lance), Daniel Gilbert Garcia and Jordan (Heather) Garcia and five great-grandchildren, Charley Isabella, Michael Vigil, Zakary and Henry Garcia and Aden Garcia.

Guadalupe was preceded in death by parents; 2 sons, Gilbert and Roberto Garcia; and 2 brothers, Ruben and Jesus and a sister, Elvira. She also had a close relationship with her half-brother, Manuel (Cotoro) Herrera that has preceded her in death.
