Jane Louise Conners Hoffmann, 67, a resident of Silver City, died on October 3, 2014.

It is not everyone who has the opportunity to write a part of her own obituary, but Janie happened to be one of those. Life has a way of throwing you a curve ball that, quite honestly, you just don't see coming. Janie was diagnosed with liver cancer in April 2014 and flew away with the last of her beloved hummingbirds on October 3, 2014 in Silver City, NM.

Daughter of Bird Gerald Conners and Mary Louise Hodge Conners, Janie was born January 30, 1947 in Waurika, OK. She was a 1965 graduate of Moore, OK High School and attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman, OK. She and George William Hoffmann Jr. were united in marriage on June 5, 1971 in Moore, OK.

Janie's thirty-two year career with the US Postal Service began in Oklahoma City, and she retired as Post Master of the Boise City, OK post office. After Bill retired, they moved from Boise City to Silver City, NM where Janie loved feeding and watching the hummingbirds and quail, cooking wonderful meals and taking care of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, George William Hoffmann, Sr.

Those surviving Janie include the love of her life, Bill Hoffmann, one sister, Carol Conners-Lyons; two nieces, Cheryl and Joe Montoya and Therisa and Stacy Pilgreen; three great nieces, Blake and Bailey Pilgreen, and Madison Montoya; two great nephews, Ian Pilgreen and Aiden Montoya; mother-in-law, Marilea Hoffmann; sisters-in-law, Nancee Hoffmann and Judi Abrams; cousins from coast to coast and friends around the world.

A celebration of Janie's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Janie requested that donations be made to Gila Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, 1313 E. 32nd St., Silver City, NM 88061.

Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
