Devon Mark Carlson of Silver City, New Mexico, died in his sleep on October 10, 2014. He was born in Columbia, Missouri, on March 31, 1971.

He was the son of Judith (Feroce) Lawrence and David Lawrence of Tucson, Arizona, and the brother of Chelsea (Carlson) Payne of Atlanta, Georgia.

Devon graduated from South Kingstown High School in Wakefield, Rhode Island, and attended Community College of Rhode Island, Salem State College, and Western New Mexico University. Devon worked in the hospitality industry, in administrative support at a large law firm in Rhode Island, and in printing/business solutions in New Mexico.

He adored most sports, especially football, baseball, and basketball. Although he was an avid and loyal Red Sox fan, he had an unexpected affinity for Cleveland teams, such as the Browns and the Cavaliers. Devon enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and basketball and loved playing with and walking his dogs.

A memorial for Devon will be held on December 13, 2014, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, where he and his family lived for most of his life. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, the family suggests donations in Devon's name to the South Kingstown Land Trust (sklt.org).
