George C. Vasquez, 87, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, October 24, 2014 at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born September 23, 1927 in El Paso, TX to Miguel R. and Bernadina Castañeda Vasquez. He worked with NASA on the Apollo program as well as the X-15 program.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64yrs, Erminia of the family home; two daughters, Gloria Chavez (David) of Hacienda Heights, CA; Corrine Lomeli (Ruben) of Ontario, CA; two sons, George R. Vasquez of Santa Fe Springs, CA; David Vasquez (Eileen) of Garden Grove, CA; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph C. Vasquez (Mary) of Silver City; Daniel C. Vasquez (Frances) of Silver City; one sister, Eva Hernandez (Jim) of Arenas Valley; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rodolfo C. Vasquez and Mike C. Vasquez; one sister, Elvira Madrid.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 30 from 1-2pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to begin at 2pm with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The funeral service will commence at 3pm with Deacon Holguin officiating.

Concluding service interment will follow at Memory Lane cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Gluck, Paul Chavez, David Chavez, Jeff Chavez, DJ Chavez, George Vasquez III, Ruben Lomeli and Ramon Jaure.
