Leona Mae Harrison, 89, a longtime resident of Deming, passed away Saturday November 15, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Visitation will begin Saturday morning, November 22, 2014 at 9 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel where funeral services will begin at 10 o'clock with Reverend Al Bunting officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Leona was born May 4, 1925 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Roscoe and Dovie (Ward) Weston. She came to Deming in 1956 from Dallas, Oregon. Upon coming to Deming Leona worked as a property manager in Lordsburg, Deming and the Las Cruces areas and at one time was also a used car salesperson. She enjoyed quilting, reading, photography and traveling but especially loved to spoil her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, George Harrison (Carol) of Las Cruces; daughters, Brenda Zachek (LeRoy) of Phoenix, AZ, Vivian Rayetta DeVaney (Ralph) of Deming; sisters, Lorene Virgo of Redding, Oregon, Diane Yost (Bob) of Dallas, Oregon; her longtime best friend, Loreda Hartsfield of Searcy, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren, George Harrison Jr. (Carol), Adam Zachek (Cindy), Windy Zachek, Debbie Ryan, Cassandra Sanner (Carl), Cherish Sweetser, (Robbie), Crystal Gonzales (Daniel), Carissa Teeter (Daniel); 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, V. Ray Harrison in 2001.

Pallbearers will be Adam and Justin Zachek, Carl Sanner, Robbie Sweetser, Daniel Gonzales and Daniel Teeter. Honorary bearer is George Harrison Jr.
