Porfirio J. Armijo, 92, a resident of Reserve passed away Wednesday, November 19 2014 at Gila Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:00 in the afternoon at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Reserve, NM. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:30 in the afternoon at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Reserve, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 in the afternoon. Concluding services and interment will follow at Lower Frisco Cemetery.

Porfirio was born September 15, 1922 in Frisco, to Thomas and Carmelita Armijo. He was the youngest of six Tomas was the oldest, Augustina, Veronica, Juan, Martin, and then Porfirio. He was drafted into the military on June 8, 1943 to June 6, 1946 upon returning from serving in the Army he work for the US Forest Service for 33 years as a timber marker scaler and firefighter. After he retired in 1980 Porfirio worked on many local ranches and as a cattle inspector. He loved hunting and the outdoors. He knew the Gila like the back of his hand as he had rode it on horse or walked most of it. He left a great legacy of memories and grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he loved dearly. Some he enjoyed greatly and towards the end he missed the joy of the new younger generation of precious gifts God has given us. He lived a long and wonderful life but was sadly robbed of 8 years by the deliberating awful disease of Alzheimer's.

Survivors include his loving wife Helen (Carrillo) Armijo, his five children Alisandra Carmelita (Daniel Gutierrez), Jerome Armijo (Susan), Eugene Armijo (Bonnie), Peggy Elisa (Gene Carabajal) and Ann Marie (Kerry Baca) and his brother Martin Armijo.

Porfirio was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Carmelita, brothers Tomas and Juan Armijo, sisters Augustina Cordova and Veronica Armijo. He is also preceded in death by two grandchildren Cory Gene Armijo and Anthony Sean Gutierrez.

Serving as pallbearers will be his family and friends.
