Tony R. Almanza, 70, a longtime Deming resident passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2014, from 3 until 6 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow at Baca's Mimbres Crematory and inurnment will take place Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Mountain View Cemetery with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating.

Tony was born September 19, 1944 to Teresa Ramos and Ysidro Almanza in Deming. He attended Deming Public Schools and spent his working career at the local cotton gin. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He is survived by 2 sons, Ruben Almanza and wife Norma and Tony Almanza Jr.; daughter, Sylvia A. Salcido; 2 brothers, Vicente Almanza and wife Marcie and Richard Almanza; 2 sisters, Helen Almanza and Lindy Lucero and husband Robert all of Deming; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Refugio "Cuco", Ramon, Ysidro Almanza and Ramon Acosta; 2 sisters, Herminia "Minnie" Martinez and Frances Padilla.
