She was also active in the Luna County Republican Party and served as President of the Luna County Republican Women’s Club. Ethel was a member of the Electoral College to cast the vote in the 1968 Presidential Election for the state of New Mexico. To keep her active in the ranching community she worked in the office on sale days for over thirty years at the Deming Livestock Auction. Ethel was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Ethel was also a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Buford Slover, Jr., her parents, John and Lotta Blencie and her sisters Nellie Jo Blencie and Ruth Blencie and her brother Jack Blencie. Ethel is survived by her daughter Totsie Slover and Miguel Briseno of Deming; grandson Fred Seybert IV and wife Rhonda of Budaghers, NM; granddaughter April Seybert and Rick Jorquera, of Tucson, AZ.
