Leonor Mercedes Stringer, 82, passed away in the comfort of her home the morning of Saturday December 20, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at ten o'clock in the morning Friday, December 26, 2014 at Baca's Funeral Chapels with Reverend Henry J. Hoffman officiating.

She was born in the country of Cuba to Eloy and Mercedes Sardiñas on July 1, 1932. Leonor met Jesse David Stringer on the Island and they were soon married. What an exciting life they had. Jesse worked for an oil company which meant they would live in many places. After their first child Barbara was born, they left Cuba and went to Puerto Rico. There they lived in the ancient and beautiful city of Ponce. Next, they would make their home in the Bahamas, another tropical Paradise. A few years later they moved to Texas where their second child Betsy was born. At last they moved to New Mexico. In 1972 she was very proud to become a naturalized citizen. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Tyrone Lodge. She spent the remaining years in Silver City where she lived a quiet life enjoying her grandchildren, Launi and Jessica. In her spare time she tended to her house, yard and flowers and volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center for 17 years. She was an excellent seamstress, making her and her children's clothes and costumes. She was a wonderful cook and loved it when her family came to eat and visit. There were many days when she remembered a more exciting life in far away tropical places. She is now with her family members who passed before her, which she said perhaps someday she may be able to visit them.

Leonor is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Ryan, Bryan of Texas, Betsy Miller of Silver City; two granddaughters, Launi Sue (Alex) and Jessica Ann (Ramon); four great-grandchildren, Dakota, Eyan, Nakiah, Zaymian and a fifth on the way, Aiden.

Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
