Socorro Porras Martinez, 56, resident of Columbus, passed away Monday January 19, 2015 at her home.

Funeral services will be this Friday, January 23, 2015, at 10 o'clock in the morning at Living Word Family Church with Pastor Lorraine Silva officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Socorro was born July 7, 1958 in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Anita (Varela) Porras. She had been an area resident since 1976 and on August 18, 1978 she married Armando H. Martinez in Deming. She was a homemaker and attended Living Word Family Church.

She is survived by her husband, Armando H. Martinez of Columbus; son, Armando Martinez of Columbus; daughter, Angie Armijo (Paul) of Deming; mother, Anita Porras of Columbus; a granddaughter, Rosemary Armijo of Columbus; 6 sisters, Lucille Gonzalez (David), Virginia Porras, Graciela Porras, Maria Porras, Josefina Cardenas (Jacinto) and Delma Porras and 3 brothers, Raul Porras Sr., Inez Porras, and Sergio Porras.

Socorro was preceded in death by her father, Jose Porras and 2 sisters, Leticia Mejia and Manuela Saldivar.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jorge Porras, Paul Armijo, Raul Porras Jr., Rodolfo Saldivar, Israel Saenz and Adrian Porras.
