Dr. Shelby H. King, 86, a resident of Mimbres, New Mexico entered eternal rest on February 11, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bright Funeral Home.

He was born in Austin, Texas to Shurley and Elsie (Norris) King. Dr. King attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, then moved to Silver City to begin his practice. He partnered with Dr. Cobb, Dr. Walsh and Dr. Willie until 1980 when he moved to Mimbres and worked in his own clinic for many years. Dr. King enjoyed ranching, farming, fishing and camping. He loved to backpack in the wilderness on horses. He also took pleasure at working in his shop building and fixing things. Dr. King was very well known in our community and always participated in clubs and organizations. He was well respected by all who knew him.

Services for Dr. King are pending.

King is survived by three daughters, Martha Goats, Karen Gera, and Cindy King, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
