Joe J. Chavez Sr., 73, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, February 26, 2015 at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 9, 1941 in Santa Rita, NM, to Epifanio and Florencia (Jaramillo) Chavez. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Corrine Baca Chavez of the family home; two daughters, Rene Rodriguez (Hector) of Safford, AZ; Maria Ortiz (James) of Silver City; four sons, Arthur Molano (Cynthia) of Sierra Vista, AZ; Gary Molano (Yolanda) of Silver City; David Molano of Hurley; Joe Chavez Jr. (Barbara) of Silver City; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sally Baca of Silver City; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Don Chavez; one sister, Severa Torres.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4 from 8:30-9:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 9:30am with Deacon Richard Rodriguez reciting. The funeral liturgy will follow at Hurley Infant Shrine at 10:30am with Father Roberto Barreto officiating. Concluding service interment will follow at Hurley cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Chavez Jr., David, Arthur, Gary, James and Matthew Molano. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Chavez III and the rest of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
