Virginia L. Coleman, 97, a longtime resident of Deming, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at her home with her family at her side.

Visitation will be this Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10 o'clock in the morning at the 9th Street Church of Christ where a celebration of her life will begin at 2 o'clock that afternoon with

Preacher Jeff LupPlace and Charles Prince officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Miss Virginia, as many knew her, was born March 5, 1917 in Caruthersville, Missouri to Henry and Alena Coleman. She came to New Mexico in 1925 and later came to Deming from Las Cruces in 1945. She worked at the Diming Air Base for some time and later became a domestic helper for families in the Deming area. Virginia has been a member of the 9th Street Church of Christ since 1969 and many people have fond memories of her kindness, her cooking and her friendship.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Ann of Deming, Colonius "Pee Wee" of Deming, Blackmon Jr. of Deming, Jimmy Jerome of Deming, and Lelton Darrell (Lynette) of DeSoto, TX; she was blessed with 32 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, her caregiver and loving friend Lisa Pioquinto, as well as many cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Thurman Wanzo and Eric Kerry; siblings, Henry Coleman, Charley Coleman, Hugh L. Coleman, Jeff Coleman, Margarita Nevarro and Mary Dudley Coleman.

Pallbearers will be Phil, Steve, Rick, Mike and Bucky Hobbs, and Chris Quarrell.
