Michael Leon "Mike" Jackson, 60, a lifelong resident of Deming, passed away Sunday evening, March 1, 2015 at home after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be this Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Henry Hoffman, Chaplain of Ambercare officiating. Cremation has taken place at Baca's Mimbres Crematory and inurnment will take place at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery.

Mike was born July 2, 1954 in Deming to Richard Leon and Arlyse Jackson. He attended the Deming Schools and afterward entered the United States Army serving from May 1972 to May 1974. Mike was very mechanically inclined and had the ability to take an idea and make it into something that worked and was useful to someone in need. He was also well known for his automotive skills in which he helped many people whether it was their vehicle, motorcycle or almost anything that had an engine. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mike is survived by his mom, Arlyse "Skippy" Jackson of Deming; his brother, Matthew B. Jackson of Memphis, TN; his sisters, Kimberly Barrett of Tennessee, Karen Bill (Michael) of Anchorage, AK, and Laurie King (Danny) of Deming as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Leon Jackson, brother, Larry Clayton, and his beloved canine companion, Brady.
