Robert Lee Major, 88, a Deming resident, passed away Saturday February 28, 2015 at La Posada in Las Cruces.

Cremation will take place at Baca's Funeral Chapel and inurnment will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery in California.

Robert was born February 10, 1927 in Elmira, New York to Iantha Bartholomew and John D.B. Major. He worked as a salesman in marketing. They moved to Deming in 1995 coming from Florida. Robert served his country honorably in the United States Navy serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella of the home; 3 sons, John R. Major of San Jose, California, Darrell Major of Hawaii, William Major of Tampa, Florida; 2 daughters, Patricia Major of Melbourne, Australia, Barbara Beasley of San Jose; grandchild, Sasha Finch and a great-grandchild, Morris Robert Finch.
