Emilia T. Valenzuela, 89, a longtime resident of Lordsburg passed away Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home in Lordsburg. Visitation will be Friday morning, April 10, 2015 at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 9:30 with Alice Ramirez leading the vigil service. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 o'clock with Fr. Ron Machado officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Emilia was born December 25, 1925 in San Jose, New Mexico to Ignacio and Paulina (Gutierrez) Tavizon. She was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Emilia enjoyed gardening and was a cook at the Lordsburg Senior Center before her retirement.

She is survived by her son, Andy Valenzuela of Lordsburg; daughters, Maria Barboza and Jessie Ruiz of Lordsburg, Gloria Mudge of Deming, Ernestina Gonzalez (Jaime) of Oracle, AZ, Maria Elena Valenzuela of Lordsburg, Toni Cittadini (Joey) of San Manuel, AZ, Dee Bejarano (Mike) of Las Vegas, NV, and Josie Peterson (Warren) of Lordsburg; her sister, Aurora Marquez of Lordsburg; 37 grandchildren 91 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. Emilia was preceded in death by 2 sons, Pedro Valenzuela and Virgil Valenzuela. Pallbearers will be Joey Ruiz, Pete Valenzuela, Ramon Mejia, Dax Gonzalez, Jason Jacquez, Joseph Cittadini, Michael Bejarano and Andrew Valenzuela. Honorary bearer is Victor Valenzuela.
