Burch 01Burch 02Ula Bly Rogers Burch, age 87, went to the arms of her Savior on March 20, 2015. Her family took her to her home in Bayard so that she may spend her last days in her own home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Bly was born in Hurley, New Mexico, in the year 1927 to Ula Bly Greer Rogers and Lee M Rogers. At the age of five she moved to Bayard. She was born into what would be one large, lovable, boisterous family, the Rogers Clan. She had three sisters and nine brothers and many sisters and brothers in law and nieces and nephews. She was so proud of her family and would defend them forever. She attended school in Hurley, New Mexico.

She married Dean Burch in 1946. He was a Mill Man, so they lived in many mining towns. Vanadium, N.M., Tyrone, N.M., Silver Bell, Az. And San Manuel, Az. She worked for Magma Copper Co. In San Manuel.. They lost their only son Tommy while living in San Manuel. When Dean retired, they bought a house in Bayard, New Mexico and spent the rest of their days there.

She worked at Kennecott Copper Corp from 1977 until she retired in 1988. Her hobbies were her home and yard. She collected many beautiful rocks and driftwood. She compiled several albums of pictures, several scrapbooks of any article she could find pertaining to her family. She had a collection of over one hundred fifty owls.

Bly was a generous and loving person. She cooked many meals for the Church of Christ in Bayard. She was a member of that church and spent much of her time cleaning and helping out. She helped many in her family and was at any function the family ever had. Weddings, births, showers, graduations, she was there. Bly was a wonderful cook and will forever be remembered for her chocolate cake. No meal was complete without Aunt Bly's cake.

She has left a tremendous hole in our family and our hearts. We miss her so much and shall, for the rest of our lives.

She was survived by one sister, Glenda Nelson (Jerry) of Safford, AZ; five brothers, Randall Rogers (Marie) of Las Cruces; Les Rogers (Norma) of Bayard; A.C. Rogers and companion Phylis of Silver City; Don Rogers (Judy) of Copper Flats and Larry Rogers of Silver City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dean, her son Tommy, four brothers, Joel, Leonard, Bob, and Ronny, two sisters, Gladys Hill and Lou Montano.

Cremation and interment have taken place and she was placed with her family in Memory Lane Cemetery, Silver City, New Mexico. Memorial Services will be held on April 11, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ on Little Walnut Road, Silver City, New Mexico. Please come share stories and thoughts with us. A meal will be served after the services by the members of the Church of Christ of Silver City.
