Robert D. Ward, 77, Deming resident passed away Monday April 6, 2015 at his home.

A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Ernie Vineyard officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory and inurnment will take place at a later date.

Robert was born December 1, 1937 in Canistota, South Dakota to Irma Mahanna and George Ward. He was a manager in engineering, had been a Deming resident since 2005 and moved here from Alamogordo. Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church, member of The Blue Jacket Navy Choir and sang with the Barber Shop Chorus. He was also a member of the Masons and Shriners Club.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home; 2 sons, Gary Slayman of Las Cruces, Michael Ward of San Diego, California; 2 daughters, Sharon Trampush and husband, John of Canyon Lake, California, Amy Slayman of Phoenix, Arizona; 2 brothers, Dale Ward of Pico Rivera, California, Gene Ward and wife, Marilyn of New Brighton, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren, Ashley (Jermey) Trampush-Noe, Austin Trampush, Codi (Lauren) Swensen, Crystal Lopaparo, Alexis Rivera and Alyssa Jaramillo and 2 great-grandchildren, Jayce Swenson and Zaelin Trampush-Noe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irma Ward and his brother, Dean Ward in August, 2011.
