ApodacaJoe D. Apodaca, 82, a Deming resident passed away Tuesday April 21, 2015 at Willow Manor Assisted Living.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 Monday morning, April 27, 2015, at Saint Ann's Catholic Church, located at 505 Alicia Street in Santa Fe. A rosary will be recited prior to the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11 o'clock. Concluding services and interment will follow at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Santa Fe National Cemetery with veteran honors accorded.

Joe was born January 3, 1933 to Agueda Tapia and Dionicio Apodaca in Tapia, New Mexico. He lived in northern New Mexico most of his life and joined the New Mexico National Guard, later being activated into the U.S. Army. Among many occupations he retired as an inspector for the NM Department of Health. He was a communicant of the Catholic Church and in recent years he made his home in Deming with son, Ed Apodaca.

He is survived by his son, Edward Apodaca, Deming; daughter, Sandra Apodaca, Las Vegas, NM; 3 sisters, Tina Romero, CA, Mary Romo-Baca of Tucumcari and Flora Martinez of TX; 3 grandchildren, Desiree Apodaca of Yuma, AZ, Joseph Apodaca of Deming and Samantha Apodaca of Las Cruces and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agueda and Dionicio Apodaca; siblings, Rosa Pacheco, Fabby Trujillo, Miguel, Lalo and Luis Apodaca.
