Consuelo ChavezConsuelo Altamirano Chavez, 94, Deming resident passed away Saturday May 9, 2015 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 9 to 9:45 in the morning at Baca's Funeral Chapel. The prayer vigil will follow at 10 o'clock at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Mass of the Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11. Fr. Manuel Ibarra, Pastor, will officiate. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Consuelo was born July 14, 1920 in Deming to Teresa Payan and Apolonio Altamirano. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Consuelo enjoyed cooking and having company. She always made sure that no one left on an empty stomach and had a great love for her family and her plants.

Survivors include 2 sons, Fernando Chavez and his wife Licha and Oscar Chavez of Deming; 3 daughters, Amparo Rivera, Mary Lou Rivera, Amalia "Molly" Glover of Deming; 3 brothers, Zacarias Altamirano of Colorado, Ramon Altamirano and Antonio Altamirano both of Deming; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Apolonio and Teresa Altamirano and husband Juan E. Chavez who died in 1993.

Pallbearers will be, Evan Chavez, Delbert Rivera, Oscar Guzman Jr., Monty Glover, Oscar Chavez Jr. And Oscar Chavez Sr.
