Hills Trembly smallLeora G. Hills-Trembly, 101, a resident of Las Cruces formerly of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM.

She was born July 13, 1913 in Schenectady, NY to Charles Franklin Adams and Clara Parr. Her nickname was "G.G." short for great-grandma. She attended Robinson St. Elementary School and Central Park High School in Schenectady, NY. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, quilt making, crafts, painting, hosting and entertaining. Leora served with her late husband Howard Hills in the Methodist ministry for over 60 years. Their ministry took them throughout New York to fellowship in Galway, Fultonville, North Hoosick, Petersburg and Grafton, Fort Edwards and Sanfords Ridge, Schuylerville and Quaker Springs, and Center Brunswick and Melrose. In 1981, Leora was a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging. She was a senior advocate, lobbyist, and field consultant for the New York State Region V Action Council prior to retirement. She was a member of the Woman's Society, secretary for the Youth Conference, and supported local conferences and the District Mission while living in New York.

After her husband Howard retired from the Methodist ministry, Howard and Leora moved to Spencer, IN and continued their efforts to improve the lives of senior citizens. Leora served as chairman of the Nutritional Study Committee, board member of Area 10 Council on Aging, member of the Gray Panthers and Retired Seniors Volunteers Program, and was honored by the Indiana Federation of Older Hoosiers, and Senior Friends of Owen County. In 1990, Leora was 1 of 16 women recognized as Senior Women of the Year for the state of Indiana. In 1991, Leora and Howard moved to Silver City, NM.

Howard passed away shortly after moving to Silver City, NM. Leora quickly became involved in the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's, Silver City's Senior Center, and part of the Tyrone "Lunch Bunch". In February of 1999, she married Carl Trembly who she met at the Senior Citizens Center. In 2014, Leora moved to Las Cruces, NM with her granddaughter Jacqueline Chavez and husband Ronnie Chavez.

She is survived by one son, Vernon Hills (Adelina) of CA; one daughter, Caroline Lang of N. Carolina; a granddaughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Chavez (Ronnie) of Silver City, NM; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Franky, Leon, and Charles Adams; one sister, Mildred Eckermann

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, An-Jean Wright. No service will be held at her request.

She will be laid to rest at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady, New York. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Bridge Community PO Box 1052 Silver City, NM 88062 or call 575-597-0065. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
