DanielConklin 195wDaniel Paul Conklin of Hurley went into the hands of God after a valiant battle against Cancer. Since 2005, Daniel fought the monster with all he had.

Daniel was born in Port Jervis, NY in 1946. At a young age he had a paper route and worked at a gas station to support his mother and himself. He graduated from high school in 1965. He enlisted into the Army as Medical/Corpsmen in the Vietnam War. Daniel married his wife "Lina" while they both served at Ft. Hood, TX. They made their home in Hurley, NM.

He was involved with the Hurley Little League, Disabled American Veterans. He retired from the mine with 42 years of service. He was proud to be in the Machinist Union. After retirement, he got involved with his grandkids in sports and school doings. It was a great joy to work the gates for Cobre High games. He enjoyed watching the games.

He is survived by his spouse of 47 years, Arlina Conklin; sons, Joseph and Paul Conklin and daughter Jennifer; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Iseha, Daniel, Rebecca, Janee, Josephine, Maria and Jonathan; brothers-in-law, Rudy (Carlena); Patrick (Veronica) and Richard (Vickie); several nieces and nephews. Daniel is the last of Edna Gillette children, siblings were John, Jim, Margaret and Dorothy from New York and Vermont.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22 from 9:30-10:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 10:30am with Deacon David Castañon reciting. The funeral service will commence at 11am with Father Roberto Barreto officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
