LeoMajalca rsLeo Majalca, 80 years, went home with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family in Rio Rancho, NM on August 27, 2015.

He was born and raised in Silver City, NM. He was born to Lupe Elias on March 24, 1935. He was married to his loving wife Elsie Majalca for 52 years. Leo worked for Kennecott Copper Mines for 29 years and Phelps Dodge for 1 year. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and held an office of Grand Knight for 2 years. He was also a Eucharistic Minister for the Catholic Church and Gila Regional Medical Center. In his younger years he served in the U.S. Army. He was also the State Director for the Jaycee's. He also received a plaque at the Silver City Museum for the Youth Mural Project. Leo also loved to play music and had his own band. He played sports and had a passion for watching sports. Leo was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elsie Gutierrez; three daughters, Lynette and husband Edward Leyba of Silver City; two grandsons, Patrick (Ashley Rodriguez), Mathew (Ashley Chavez) and Zavier; Sonia and husband Freddie Montes of Rio Rancho; three granddaughters, Brandi, Mercades and Devin; one grandson, Jude. Sylena and husband Terrance McCarty of Albuquerque; one grandson, Zavian and one granddaughter, Jamel.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Eddie Joe Leyba; his mother, Lupe Elias; his in-laws, Fred and Anastasia Gutierrez.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 6pm with Deacon Richard Rodriguez reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, September 3 at 9:30am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Tony Basso officiating. Concluding service interment will follow with full military honors at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Marin, Adrian Jaurequi, Arbenio "Archie" Chavez, Arnold Ortiz, Marcos Quintero and Ambrosio Ambriz. Honorary pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, Edward Leyba, Freddie Montes, and Terrance McCarty; his grandsons, Patrick, Mathew, Zavian, Jude and Zavier; close family friends Roman Alvarado and Ronnie Lewis.
