ElisaCurry RSElisa Tovar Curry, 83, formerly a resident of Van Nuys, CA, entered eternal rest peacefully at Fort Bayard Medical Center surrounded by her loving family on November 1, 2015.

Elisa was born on August 1, 1932 in Hanover, NM to Juan and Regina Tovar. She was a sensitive and strong person involved with those who were in her life. She was vivacious and faced her full life a mixture of joys, trials and tribulations with resilience and unbreakable strength which she attained from her strong faith in God. She took pride in being the matriarch of her family and her homemaking skills. She cherished time spent with her devoted sisters and brothers. Elisa enjoyed summer vacations camping in the Gila National Forest with her large family and visiting San Francisco, CA.

Painting projects, cooking authentic Mexican dishes, spending time with family and friends, and reading movie star gossip in the National Enquirer were some of her other enjoyments. She was known to break out in a dance with any type of music, even in her wheel chair at Fort Bayard medical Center. Her dream to visit Alaska was accomplished during her life time. The love of her life, James Edward Curry, was a union of more than 40 years. She expressed readiness to be at peace in heaven with God and rejoin those who went before her.

She is survived by two sons, James Curry of Albuquerque, NM and Christopher Curry of San Francisco, CA; four daughters, Georgina Kimbel and husband Dave of Lancaster, CA, Emily Curry of Lancaster, CA, Kathleen Parker and husband Craig of Huntington Beach, CA, and Rosaleen Curry-Shelley of Petaluma, CA; eleven grandchildren, James, Jesse, Michael, Krysten, Jaggers, Katelyn, Audrian, Mark, Anglyn, Kimberly, Karissa and Max; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Danny Tovar and wife Dora of Bayard, NM, Manuel Tovar and wife Magdalena of Silver City, NM, and Alex Tovar and wife Bernadette of Bayard, NM; two sisters, Rita Montoya and husband Benny of Belen, NM and Mary Tovar of Oak Park, CA.
