Louis Fierro RSLouis Fierro, 86, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 25, 1929 in Silver City, NM to Fred Fierro and Lorenza Valencia.

Mr. Fierro was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his vehicles with his sons, cooking for his family especially on holidays.

He was a hard worker and very skilled in carpentry, cement finishing, building rock walls and fire places for many families throughout Grant County. He was very happy and proud of his accomplishments.

Mr. Fierro joined the US Navy in 1948 at age 17. He served his time as a 3rd Class Ship Serviceman on the Lofberg 759 Destroyer Ship during the Korean War. He received medals for his time served and his achievements. Those included the Navy Occupation Service, National Defense, Korea Service, United Nation Service, Foreign Awards, Presidential Unit Citation and Republic of Korean War Service. He was very proud to have served our country.

He touched many lives with his love and kindness. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angelina "Angie" Fierro of the family home; five sons, Louis Ray Fierro and wife Frieda of Silver City; Daniel Fierro of Silver City; James Fierro and wife Velia of Silver City; Adam Fierro and wife Denise of Bayard; Jerry Fierro and wife Jayme of Silver City; two daughters, Mary Altamirano and husband Lino of Silver City; Deanne Fierro; fifteen grandchildren; Jadaa, Jacobs, Jordan and Jeremiah Fierro; Mia Martinez, Isaiha Morales, James Fierro Jr., Vicki Oglesby, Dawn, Ben Altamirano and Daniel Fierro, Jr. Altamirano, Leticia and Chris Fierro, Bianca and Elis Morales; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Fierro of Paris, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Freddie, Andy and Sammy Fierro; two sisters, Louise Wyant and Frances Morin.

A Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be Wednesday, December 2 at 6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Deacon Jerry Bustillos reciting. The committal will take place Thursday, December 3 at 11am at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
