Bertha "Birdy" Porras, 65, Deming resident passed away Monday night January 4, 2016 at her home.

Bertha was born August 31, 1950 in Deming to Charlie Gonzales and Bertha Sapien. She worked for Deming Public Schools as a teacher's assistant and was a member of the Redeemer Apostolic Church. Bertha loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Survivors include her husband, Victor Porras; 6 sisters, Rachel Gonzales, Rena Gonzales, Delia Milo and her husband, Frank all of Deming, Bea Alvarez, Corina Flores and her husband Joshua all of Phoenix, Arizona, Rosie Bustamante and her husband Raymond of Las Cruces; 2 granddaughters, Lizette and Lisa Porras and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Bertha Gonzales and her son, Victor Porras, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be Monday afternoon January 11, 2016 at 2 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel with Pastor George Gillespie of the Redeemer Apostolic Church officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be private.
