Mario Yniguexz 1 RSMario Yniguexz 2 RSMario De Leon Yniguez, 77, a lifelong resident of Bayard passed away on January 15, 2016.

Mario was born in Santa Rita.

He graduated from Western New Mexico University with a degree in accounting. He worked at Kennecot Copper Corporation for many years and retired from Ft. Bayard Medical Center as the Assistant Administrator.

Mario enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He loved being outdoors; especially working on projects, roping, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren showing them all he knew. He liked playing poker and pool and would join in tournaments where he would often leave with the top prize. Golfing became a passion for him and he would spend three days out of the week at the golf course with his friends. Mario loved his family and was known to take care of everyone, being there for them no matter what.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Y. Grijalva of Bayard; his daughter, Marissa Yniguez of Santa Fe; three grandchildren, Eddie and Max Misquez and Sofia Trujillo; three sisters, Betty Quintanar of Silver City; Annie Gonzales and husband Eloy of Bayard; Sally Young and husband Sonny of Arenas Valley; also survived by Susie Yniguez and his step children: Fred Barraza, Pat Rajaniemi, and Lisa Morgan; aunt, Lupe Yniguez and uncle, Meme Yniguez; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his step father Mariano Grijalva ('94), brother Louie Grijalva ('85) and his step son Robert Steve Barraza('13). 

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 6pm with Deacon Art Gutierrez reciting. The funeral liturgy will be Thursday, January 21 at 10am at Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Roberto Barreto officiating. Concluding service interment will follow at Hanover cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie and Max Misquez, Lez Gonzales, Milo Young, Albert Trujillo and Bobby Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Ojinaga, Willie Gonzales and Ambrosio Ambriz.
