James Arthur Laney, 38, of Deming passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016.

James was born December 26, 1977 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, lived in the Deming area most all his life and was affectionately known as "Jack Rabbit". He had done ranch work mostly and was talented in welding and operating heavy equipment. James had most recently been attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed being in the outdoors while hunting, fishing, rock hunting and exploring new places. He always said when he would go out he was searching for the treasures of the world. James especially loved his family and sharing his life and adventures with his wife Trisha.

He is survived by his wife Trisha of Deming; daughter Brooklyn Ann Laney of San Antonio, TX; his mother Tonya Laney of Shady Point, OK; stepfather Mike Laney of Idabel, OK; brother Tommy Laney of Angel Fire, NM; sister Katy Laney of Las Cruces; grandparents, John Tulk and Mildred "Millie" Dodenhof; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers family requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the animal charity of your choice.

A celebration of his life will be this Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 2 to 4 at the Adobe Deli Banquet Hall. A pot luck will follow.
