Julian RodriguezJulian "Shorty" Rodriguez, 95, of Lordsburg entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Las Cruces, NM. A Rosary will be recited at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Julian was born on June 15, 1920, in Rancho El Atravesano, Michuacan. He was the son of Carlos Rodriguez and Maria Luz Solorzano. He was married to Micaela Jimenez of
Lordsburg.

During his early life he spent his time as an agricultural worker, an underground miner, and served the city of Lordsburg for over twenty-five years.

He is survived by his daughter Lupe and her husband Alfonso Alvarez of Lordsburg. Three sons of California; Lucio Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez, and Elazar Rodriguez. Several grandchildren; Cynthia, Charles, and Caesar Alvarez of Lordsburg. Julio, Luz Maria, Rocio, Gerardo, Gloria, Lucio Jr., Luis, Claudia, Valente, Laura, Suehaye, Paola, Julio Cesar, Claudia, Jose Jr., Rosa Maria, Maria Elena, and Juana all of California. Several great-grandchildren of California, four great-grandsons; Horacio, Ignacio, and Mauricio Zambrano of Lordsburg and one great-granddaughter of Colorado, Valentina Alvarez.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Micaela Jimenez and his two sons; Elazar and Jose Rodriguez.

Grandpa Shorty was a kind and humble man, his presence will be greatly missed. May we find peace during this difficult time and comfort in our memories with him. We love you and miss you Grandpa Shorty.

Pallbearers will be; Alfonso Alvarez, Charles Alvarez, Caesar Alvarez, Chris Alvarez, Joseph Marquez, Alejandro Ramirez, Caesar Jacquez, Horacio Zambrano. Honorary pallbearers are Ignacio Zambrano and Mauricio Zambrano.
