Joyce Bannister rsJoyce A. Banister, 81, of Silver City, NM went to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 2, 2016.

She was born March 31, 1935 in Ft. Worth, TX to G.T. and Pauline Cothran.

Joyce was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was retired school teacher who taught for over thirty years in New Mexico, spending the majority of her career at Cloudcroft High School. "Great Gram" loved spending time with her family and watching her grandkids and great grandkids play and ride their horses. Her great grandsons loved going to "Grams" house to visit and run out the door with green teas and cookies that she kept in stock just for them.

She is survived by her brother, Gary Tom Cothran and wife Minnie of Lovington, NM; daughter, Julie Mehan and husband Bill of Silver City; grandson Russell Mehan and wife Cristin of Las Cruces; granddaughter, Elizabeth "Wiz" McCauley and husband Kyle of Silver City; great-grandsons, Cole and Cody McCauley, Will and Matt Mehan, nephew Gary Brad Cothran and wife Jill.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
