Margie Watkins rsMargie Lorene Watkins, 83, a Silver City resident, entered Eternal rest Monday, April 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Margie was born June 5, 1932 in Austin, Texas to Karl and Inez Hudgens.

She attended WNMU and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She completed her studies in the Nursing Department and received her certification as a Registered Nurse. She started her career as a Registered Nurse at Hillcrest Hospital and continued at Gila Regional Medical Center from where she would later retire.

She met and married Dan Watkins and moved to the Cliff-Gila area where their three children Anita, Charles and stepson Danny were raised.

She enjoyed fishing, reading, sewing, cooking, watching World-wide and local news and ministry shows, working on crafts and writing Poems which include completing a book "Crystals" started by her son Charles Watkins.

She was a leader in the Girl Scouts. She loved spending time with her family, attending Church and participating in all different types of activities. Her favorite movie was "Gone with the Wind". In the last year of her life she lived in Silver City with her daughter Anita Russell.

She is survived by her daughter Anita L. Russell (Ben) of Silver City, her son-in-law Dale W. Russell of Silver City, her granddaughter Ashley J. Delfin of Silver City and her grandson Dale W. Russell Jr. (Sadee) of Silver City, her great-grandchildren Desirea and J'Vin. Also surviving her is her brother William "Bill" Hudgens (Jaynelle "Cookie") of Truth of Consequences, brother-in-law Jerry Veck of Colorado, sister-in-law Jaynelle Hudgens of Santa Teresa and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Karl and Inez Hudgens, her husband Dan Watkins, brother John Hudgens, sister Sherry Veck and her son Charles Watkins.

A memorial service will be celebrated Friday, April 8, 2016 at 2 O'clock in the afternoon at Brewer Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Earseye Ross officiating. Cremation has taken place at Baca's Silver City Crematory. Inurnment will take place at a later date where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son at Pinos Altos Cemetery.
