Daniel De La Torre "Dan" Lopez, 72, of Esparto, CA passed away from natural causes August 4, 2015.

A former Grant County resident, Mr. Lopez was born February 21, 1943 in Central, NM to Albert T. Lopez and Pauline De La Torre Lopez.

After high school Dan joined and served in the U.S. Air Force for over three years and an additional two years in the USAF Reserves. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and horse back riding. He had a great love for people and would strike up conversations with anyone that would lend an ear.

Dan was a humanitarian and a loyal member of the local Lions Club in Esparto.

He spent many years with Gail working at the "Burger Barn" a fast food restaurant they owned.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his siblings, Elma Renteria and husband Joe of Montebello, CA; Delfie Lopez of Silver City; Henry Lopez and wife, Hilda of Lancaster, CA; Ernestina Torrez of San Lorenzo; Mary Lopez of Deming; David Lopez of Santa Clara; Rose Ann Trujillo and husband George of Santa Clara; Virginia De La Torre of Albuquerque and Elizabeth Pietzsch and husband Tim of Hamilton, TX.

A Graveside Service will be celebrated Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11am at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full honors accorded by the local and active duty honor guard.
