David S. Tais 57, a Silver City resident entered eternal rest Sunday, April 17, 2016, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 23, 1958 in Artesia, California to Colastico Jr. and Elisa (Alice) Jaurequi Tais.

David lived in Whittier, CA for about 20 years and in Silver City for the last 5 years. He loved animals and the outdoors especially the beach. He was a free spirit and hated to be tied down. David Tais rsNo matter where he went it was very easy for him to make friends because he loved and respected everyone he met. Everyone always commented that "he was a great guy and friend" and how they had nothing but respect for him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

While residing in California he was known as "Diamond Dave" because he wore a diamond stud on his left ear. In his hometown he was known as "Chico and the man". One of his many dogs was a white poodle whose name was Chico, who was his faithful companion. His niece Sonya would say "she had chosen Chico but Chico had chosen David for his master".

He loved classical rock and his favorite bands were the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendricks and Janis Joplin. He loved the Beatles' White album. His favorite TV shows were Columbo, Matlock and Murder She Wrote. His favorite channels he enjoyed watching were Science, Public, History, Travel and National Geographic. He would always go around saying "bam bam and ciao".

While living in Silver City he worked for the Public Schools and Fort Bayard Medical Center as a janitor. He worked in the factories and janitorial services while he lived in California.

He is survived by his siblings; Rachel Tais, Gloria T. Grinie and her husband Gilbert Grinie and Michael Tais. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; Melissa Grinie, Anthony Booher, Daylen and Caitlin Booher and Brianna and Randy Bertado and daughter Juliette Love, Ronnie Grinie and Oscar Luna, Sonya Grinie and Johanne Bouchereau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald James Tais.

Cremation has taken place at Baca's Silver City Crematory. Services to be announced at a later date.
