Lillie Burton rsLillie Rae Burton, 93, passed away at La Posada Hospice on April 21, 2016 after a short battle with a broken arm and Lymphoma. Lillie was born August 14, 1922 to Larkin and Cynthia Wright Prestridge in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, she was the 6th out of 8 children. Her family moved in 1933 to a farm south of Deming to grow cotton and other crops.

Lillie fell in love with James "Dee" Burton and they married January 12, 1941, moved to the El Paso Natural Gas Company Station at Gage, NM where he worked. Dee joined the Army in Dec. 1942, and Lillie traveled across the country to Louisiana and Georgia on several occasions to visit him before he was sent overseas for WWII. She worked during this time at a Peanut factory in Georgia, and Mahoney's Hardware in Deming. Dee came home from the War in March 1946, and they moved back to Gage, NM while he continued to work for the gas company until he retired in 1974.

They had two daughters, Deanna and Janet. Lillie was a Homemaker and a Seamstress, she loved to cook, sew, go camping and fishing. Lille was always ready to go, go, go, and just say the word "go" and she would be in the car waiting before anyone else was ready. She worked at her daughter's sewing store since it had opened, and took pride talking to people and helping them with their projects. She loved her family very much, having all the children around, and playing hours of card games. She was always making crafts or sewing things for others, she enjoyed making others smile when they received one of her projects.

She is survived by daughter Janet (Ted) Offutt, son-in-law Larry Johnson; Grandchildren-Tammy (Mike) Smelker, Amber (Adrian) Aizpuru, Teak Johnson and step-grandson Tracy (Martha) Offutt.
