Allegra Dusenbery rsAllegra V. Dusenbery of Lubbock, TX and Columbus, NM, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, at Sister's Loving Arms. Allegra was born on April 28, 1917, in Geyserville, CA, the daughter of the late William Condit McIlrath and Christine Katherine (Andersen) McIlrath. She was the beloved baby sister of "Auntie Kay" and Pat.

She married Walter Alonzo Dusenbery on August 16, 1938 in Contra Costa County, CA. He predeceased her on February 26, 1993, in Columbus, NM.

Anyone who had the pleasure meeting Allegra immediately loved her. She worked as a clothing model at I. Magnin of San Francisco, CA for many years, and continued to enjoy throughout her life a passion for clothing.

She will be remembered by many for her large earrings and her extensive handbag collection. She loved to bake pies and make an evening cocktail or two.

After her husband retired, they traveled by RV to all fifty states, Mexico and Central America, until settling down in the Village of Columbus, NM, where she was a friend to many. She remained in Columbus for a few years after her husband's death before moving to Lubbock, TX, to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her son Walter C. Dusenbery and his wife Irene of Fly Creek, NY; her daughter, Catherine V. Cushman and her husband Peter of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Cushman, Dr. Walter and Jennifer Cushman, Greg and Gustie Cushman, all residing in Lubbock, TX, and Finn Dusenbery, Esq. and his wife Denise of New York City, NY; last but not least, eleven great-grandchildren who adored her.

A graveside service will be Wednesday May 11, 2016 at 10 o'clock in the morning at Valley Heights Cemetery in Columbus with Lay Vicar Don Heacox of St. Luke's Episcopal Church officiating.
