Derral Lee Beck, 81, passed away May 13, 2016 in Silver City, NM, surrounded by his loved ones.

Derral was born August 6, 1934, in Vilonia, AR to Earl Beck and Gladys Dixon Beck.

His family moved to Bayard, NM, when he was 14 years old.

In 1953 he married Wanda Porter, and they had three children together. In the early years of their marriage, Derral worked several jobs, including the TransAmerican Pipeline and as a Brakeman for Kennecott Copper, before he and Wanda started their own businesses.

In the late 1970's Derral semi-retired and enjoyed living and fishing in Kino Bay, Mexico, where he spent thirty-some years aboard his boat "Beach Bum".

Throughout his life Derral enjoyed working his business (Beck's Construction), ranching, fishing, hunting, and guiding horseback trips through the wilderness. When not in the great outdoors, he loved cooking green chile stew and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys. His passion was to be surrounded by and help friends and family. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his great-grand girls, whether teaching them to fish and garden or crafting furniture for them. Also beloved was time with family at their lake house in Arkansas where he would catch and fry fish for everyone.

Known as a hard worker and a great fisherman to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, Derrel worked until he was no longer able, including building a house for his granddaughter in 2013. Since then, he had helped several friends and family do projects including barns, greenhouses and chicken coops.

Derral is survived by his brother, Bobby (Juanita) Beck of Oklahoma and sister Milligene (Bob) Kannon of Arkansas; his two sons, Dwayne Beck of Silver City, NM and Terry Beck of Salmon, ID, and his daughter Linda (Mike) Polomski of Silver City, NM; his grandchildren, Cameron Beck, MikaJo (Trevor) Tivis, Becka (Barrett) Weishaar, Tyler Beck, Trevor Beck, Emily Beck, Aspen Davis, Lynn Beck and Grace Beck, and the loves of his later life his three great-granddaughters Sterling, Quincy and Sailor. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, each held dear to his heart.

Derral was preceded in death by his parents, brother Billie Beck and sister Geneva Manasco.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 4:00 pm at the Silver City Church of Christ.

Honorary pallbearers will be Freddy Beck, Brian Beck, Kevin Beck, Shelton Holland and Don Oliver.
