Billy Moore rsBilly Leroy Moore, 80, long time resident and business owner of Silver City, NM. passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016.

Billy was born September 17, 1935 in Pampa, TX to William Dudley and Connie (Pendergraff) Moore.

They moved to Hobbs, where Billy graduated from Hobbs High School in 1954, where he was an All-State Offensive Lineman. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 1961, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

He lived in Dallas and worked at Sears for 10 years.

Billy had 3 children, Dudley and Selena Moore from his first marriage to Helen Tate, and Wendy (Moore) Rivera with his wife of 46 years, Norma (Guillen) Moore.

Billy and his wife Norma moved to Silver City in 1976, and took over the Sears Catalog Store for 16+ years. He also owned Daylight Donuts for over 13 years before retiring due to his health issues.

While living in Silver City, he was a social butterfly who was active in the community, where he was President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Lions Club, active in both the Prospectors and the University Club.

Billy was known for his gift of gab and storytelling and never met a stranger. He enjoyed memberships with the Elks and Moose Lodges. He loved fishing in Mexico with his vast amount of close friends. He also loved bowling, playing pool, and spending weekends with family skiing at Elephant Butte.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Norma Moore of Silver City, his son Dudley and wife Becky Moore, 3 granddaughters of Las Cruces, his daughter Wendy and husband Sebastian Rivera, one granddaughter and two grandsons of Austin, TX, and his sister Kay Atwood of Carlsbad, NM as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Connie, and 3 sisters; Jean, Ruth, and Connie; his daughter Selena and granddaughter Crystal.

The Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Floyd Robertson officiating.
