Fred Parker rsIrving Fredrick Parker, 89, a resident of Mimbres, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, June 19, 2016 at University Medical Center in El Paso, TX.

He was born April 23, 1927 in Watertown, MA to Irving Fredrick Parker and Margaret Belcher Parker.

Irv was an adventurer and loved nature. As a young man he would work with his grandfather, fishing in the waters surrounding Boston. As a teen he spent an entire summer in the forest of northern New York.

He joined the US Navy for a year and later transferred to the US Army. He was stationed in Germany as a surveyor.

He met the love of his life in Germany sking in the Alps, his wife Chris. They moved several times between Germany and El Paso (Ft. Bliss).

He fell in love with the Southwest. After raising four children and retiring he moved to his favorite fishing hole-Mimbres, NM. He spent the next 30 years enjoying hiking, fishing, mule rides, his friends and family. He leaves us better people knowing him.

He is survived by one son, Irving David Parker of Las Cruces; two daughters, Audrey Jean Baker and husband Tim of Mimbres; Christine Margaret Roberts and husband Richard; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Christy, Jamie, Tommy, Katy, Johnny and Kristel; four great-grandchildren, Audrey, Elena, Connor and David.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Chris who died five years ago, one son, John Thomas Parker.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 25 at 11am at Rio Mimbres Baptist Church 29 Cactus Dr. Mimbres, NM. 88049. Come help us celebrate his life.
