Ray Dominguez rsReynaldo "Ray" Silva Dominguez, 67, Deming resident passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso.

Reynaldo was born January 21, 1949 to Consuelo Silva and Valentin S. Dominguez in Deming.

He attended Grant County Schools and married Martha Esparza on January 21, 1983 in Deming.

"Ray" as he was affectionately known, served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He earned the Bronze Star with device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Presidential Unit Citation. After more than 9 years of service he attained the rank of Staff Sargent and was serving as a drill instructor. Ray returned to Deming and was employed as a custodian at Deming High School. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

He is survived by wife Martha E. Dominguez of the home; 2 sons, Juan Eduardo Dominguez of Temacula, CA, Ray Dominguez Jr of Deming; 2 daughters, Bernadette Marie Esparza of Deming, Olivia Dominguez of Tucson, AZ; 4 brothers, Leandro and Johnny Dominguez of Dwyer, Valentin Dominguez of Las Cruces, Frank Dominguez of Deming; 2 sisters, Virginia Garcia of Deming and Angelina Hardin of Dwyer; 9 grandchildren, Victoria, Jorge, Gabriel, Khrystal, Felicia, Frankie, Fabian, Rudica and Faina, and 2 great-grandchildren, Ivy Monet and Ithel.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George and Luis Dominguez.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon July 27, 2016 from 3 to 5 at Baca's Funeral Chapel. The prayer vigil will follow at 6 o'clock at Saint Ann's Catholic Church led by Martha Dominguez. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o'clock on Thursday July 28, 2016 at Saint Ann's Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Machado, officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Veteran honors will be accorded.

Serving as pallbearers are Jorge Martinez, Frankie Contreras, Gabriel Martinez, Leandro Dominguez Jr., Jose Luis Dominguez, Francisco Dominguez, Marcus Dominguez and Ricardo Rodriguez.

Honorary pallbearers named are Juan and Ray Dominguez.
