Sammie D Hayes 96 of Silver City New Mexico passed into eternal life Friday July 29, 2016.

Sammie was born in Kenton Tennessee to Charlie and Mary Hayes.

He married the love of his life Lorene Hayes in 1939 in Morrilton Arkansas.

He was an active man with many hobbies and multiple talents.

To know Sammie was to love him and he had countless friends.

He enjoyed scrapping metal, making jewelry, welding, camping, fishing and riding his golf cart around town.

Sammie is survived by his daughter Connie Trewern, daughter in law Joyce Hayes, grandsons Duane Trewern, Eric Hayes, and Wilton Hayes, Granddaughter in law Christina Trewern and Lisa Trewern, Great grandchildren Justin, Haley, Noah, Ryan and Ava Trewern; Hunter, Wyatt and Lereya Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorene, Brothers Acie, Odie, Elmer and stepbrother Jack; Sister Anna Mae; Son Sammy; Grandson John Trewern and Hulon Hayes.
Sammie worked for Phelps Dodge in Morenci Arizona as a driller for 36 years. He and his wife moved to Silver City in 1980.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bright Funeral Home Chapel 210 W College Ave. Silver City NM 88061 on Saturday August 6, 2016 at 10:00 am. A graveside service will follow at Gila Valley Memorial Gardens 650 E Airport Rd. Safford Arizona.

Pallbearers Duane Trewern, Justin Trewern, Wilton Hayes and Eric Hayes. Honorary Pallbearers Jeff Hobbs and all his friends and family.

In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Calvary Baptist Church 186 Truck Bypass Rd. Silver City NM 88061.
