Vernon Ellis rsVernon Harley Ellis left this life for a better one on July 25, 2016. He was comforted by his family and friends along this journey. He was born May 27,1936 in Washburn, Missouri to Clarence Ellis and Cleva Stevens.

He had his own business, Vern's Body Shop, for 35 years, a business he took great pride in.

Vern was an avid bowler and loved participating in bowling leagues as well as State and National competitions.

He entered drag racing competitions in his later life, just for the joy of competition. Vern rebuilt classic cars; his 1946 Dodge was his favorite. He was a member of the Copper County cruisers for many years, often taking some of his classic cars for car shows, representing the club.

Vern had a passion for fishing and boating as he took frequent trips to lakes and rivers, enjoying the quiet and teaching his children and grandchildren to drive a boat.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 yrs., Patsy R. Ellis of the family home; two sons, Allen D. Ellis and wife Jennifer of Tucson, AZ; Danny L. Ellis of Arenas Valley; one daughter, Jill K. Ellis of Arenas Valley; nine grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Victoria, Brittani, Brandon, Cassandra, Asia, Skylar and Amelia; two great-grandchildren, A.J., Avan and one on the way; one sister, Betty Kult of Cypress, CA; he is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and close family friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cleva Stevens, his father, Clarence Ellis and his brothers, Roy, Glenn, Les and Ronnie.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 6 at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Steve Griffith officiating.

In lieu of flowers family is requesting donations be made to their favorite charity.

Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory.
