Irean Henry rsIrean Allred Henry, 95, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 in Silver City, New Mexico of natural causes.

She was born May 12, 1921 in Bryce, Arizona to Aldo B. Allred and Emma Nellie Uptain Allred.

She had one sister, Marja Ann, and five brothers: Aldo Calvert, William Murle (Bill, who perished in the Philippines in WWII), Willard Roy, Wallace and Johnny (John), all of whom preceded her in death.

Irean's family moved to the upper Gila Valley from Safford, Arizona in 1924. Even as a 3 year old, she vividly remembered the trip taking several days, traveling in a covered wagon, pulled by horses, while driving other animals. In 1941 she met and married William Conn Henry.

Throughout their marriage Irean worked as an equal partner. To their union was born one son, Kitt. They also raised a niece, Paula Belle(Atchley) as a daughter.

Irean enjoyed everything about the outdoors, including fishing, camping, gardening, and traveling.

She was an avid crochet and knitting enthusiast. Many have been recipients of her handwork. She also loved painting and other artistic endeavors. Until her eyesight deteriorated she always had a jigsaw puzzle on the table.

She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a devoted member of the Tyrone Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Kitt's life was cut short in 1986 and one year later, to the day, Sept. 29, 1987 her husband of 48 years, Conn passed away suddenly.

Irean has spent the last nearly 30 years determined to maintain her independence and dignity, remaining in her home until recently.

She was predeceased by a grandson Clay, and is survived by Paula Belle (Atchley); three grandsons; Casey, Kitt Jr, and Keith, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 5 at 10:00am at the Gila Mesa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Masonic Cemetery Fund.
