Jose Rios rsJose M. Rios, "Lendo", 80, of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

"Lendo" as he was affectionately known, was born on March 20, 1936 to Julian and Presentacion in Lordsburg, NM. Jose was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and of the Local 890 Steel-worker union. Jose worked for Kennecott Copper Company for about 35 years. He was an avid hunter, camper, fisherman, especially at Bear Dam, and was a casino player. Jose played for the Santa Rita Miners as a pitcher and he was beer collector. Lendo made his own fishing flies, and was known by his grand kids as "the sharp shooter". Lendo will always be remembered as a strong and blunt person with his words of choice.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mariana, of Bayard; children, son, Rudy (Mary); daughters, Lucy Montoya(David), Mary Ann Aguirre (Shawn), and Ruby Vega (Jacob) all of Silver City; Grandchildren, Rudy and Steven Rios, Marisa Marshall, Meagan, Emily and Paul Montoya, Jacob and Kristina Vega, Talmai Nickerson and Shawntai Aguirre. He also had nine great-grandchildren; brother Santiago (Gloria) of Tucson, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving Lendo is a special family friend, Frances "Panchita" Gonzales.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Anthony Montoya, his parents, sisters, Rafaela Gomez and Sara Flores; brothers, Avel and Manuel Rios and Frank Chaires. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10:30 in the morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard, NM with the Funeral Liturgy immediately following. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Silver City, NM. Officiating will be Fr. Roberto Barreto. Serving as pallbearers will be Rudy and Steven Rios, Paul and David Montoya, Alfredo Gonzales and Robert Flores.
